چکیده

L- and D-stereoisomers of amicetose were generated by combining sugar biosynthesis genes from four different antibiotic gene clusters and both sugars were transferred to the elloramycin aglycone by the sugar flexible ElmGT glycosyltransferase.

Stereo-Specific Transcript Regulation of the Polyamine Biosynthesis Genes by Enantiomers of Ornithine in Tobacco Cell Culture

Background: Ornithine (Orn) plays an essential role in the metabolism of plant cells through incorporation in polyamines biosynthesis, the urea cycle and nitrogen metabolism. Physiological response of the plant cells to its two enantiomers have not been widely investigated yet. Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate effect of ornithine enantiomers on exp...

Kigamicins, novel antitumor antibiotics. II. Structure determination.

Kigamicin A (1), B (2), C (3), D (4) and E (5) are novel antitumor antibiotics. Their structures were determined by spectroscopic analyses including various NMR measurements. Kigamicins have a unique aglycone of fused octacyclic ring system containing seven of six-membered rings and one oxazolidine. The aglycone links a sugar chain composed of one to four deoxysugars. These sugars were found to...

Transcriptional Response of Structural and Regulatory Genes Involved in Isoprene Biosynthesis and its Relation to Essential Oil Biosynthesis in Response to Salicylic Acid and Abscisic Acid in Mentha piperita L.

Background: In peppermint, precursors for the biosynthesis of monoterpenes are provided by plastidial methyl-erythritol-phosphate (MEP) pathways. Objective: In order to increase our understanding of terpene metabolism in M. piperita, the effect of salicylic acid (SA) and abscisic acid (ABA) in the modulation of expression pattern of genes involved in essential oil biosynthesis and secretion wa...

Cloning and characterization of the tetrocarcin A gene cluster from Micromonospora chalcea NRRL 11289 reveals a highly conserved strategy for tetronate biosynthesis in spirotetronate antibiotics.

Tetrocarcin A (TCA), produced by Micromonospora chalcea NRRL 11289, is a spirotetronate antibiotic with potent antitumor activity and versatile modes of action. In this study, the biosynthetic gene cluster of TCA was cloned and localized to a 108-kb contiguous DNA region. In silico sequence analysis revealed 36 putative genes that constitute this cluster (including 11 for unusual sugar biosynth...
